05 / Roji 2D Viewer

Review renders and images

The 2D Viewer is used for EXR review, AOV inspection, lightgroup relight, deep comp checks, and image reference boards.

Review the render output

  • Open the output from a Render node or from the render folder.
  • Check the beauty image first, then inspect diagnostic AOVs.
  • Use image compare tools when checking farm and local output.

Inspect render passes

Use AOVs to debug lighting, materials, masks, depth, normals, cryptomatte, or custom render outputs.

  • Select the AOV from the channel or layer list.
  • Check whether the Render node wrote the expected passes.
  • Use AOV views when troubleshooting missing lights, masks, or material assignments.

Adjust lightgroups after rendering

Lightgroup AOVs allow a rendered image to be balanced in the viewer without reopening the full scene.

  1. Render with lightgroup AOVs enabled on the Render node.
  2. Open the EXR in the 2D Viewer.
  3. Adjust lightgroup intensity or color for review.

Use the image canvas for reference

The image canvas can hold renders, paintovers, references, color scripts, and review images together.

  • Load reference images next to render outputs.
  • Use the canvas to compare versions and notes visually.
  • Keep important review images close to the shot context.
